    Cheap motorbike rental Hanoi

How much does it cost to rent a bike in Hanoi? It costs around 100,000 – 150,000 VND per day to rent a motorbike ($4,50-$6 USD).

Where to rent a cheap motorbike in Hanoi?Address: 112 Nguyen Van Cu street , Long Bien, Hanoi, Vietnam. Open 8am to 9pm ( everyday ). Phone: 0942467674
What they require to rent a motorbike in Hanoi?Every rental place will need you to either leave a deposit of a certain amount of money or leave a passport. Some people get nervous about giving their passport, but we’ve never had a problem. Some motorcycle rentals in Hanoi will accept a driver’s license, but you don’t want to give yours if you plan to be driving.

Finding a bike in Hanoi is very easy since the country has around 45 million registered motorcycles on a population of roughly 90 million people!

It roughly means that every second person has a bike, or better said – every bike serves (at least!) two people! How crazy is it, right?

Don’t get excited too soon, as finding the reliable motorbike that will be your truthful companion around the country can cause few headaches! Locals around the city mainly use motorbikes as the mean of transportation as they don’t usually travel long distances, so the motorbikes are in better condition than your average ‘backpacker’.

There is no better way than exploring Hanoi on a motorcycle or scooter. It is by far the easiest way to travel around the city. But renting a motorcycle in Hanoi can be a challenging and comes with certain risks. In this guide Motorbike Nguyen Tu is the most frequent questions on motorbike rental in Hanoi with up to date information! Enjoy the read and ride safe!

Do not look for unusually cheap motorbike rental in Hanoi

Due to the development of tourism in the city, there are so many spots for motorbike rental in Hanoi. It could be easy to find a motorbike rental everywhere in the city. Moreover, your hotel might have a transport rental service too. However, to choose a good one with a safe vehicle, it is not easy. Visit our list of the best quality motorbike rental In Hanoi to make your decision.

    Hanoi Motorbike rental

To save the budget, there are so many people choose the cheap rental service without considering its quality and reliance. At the unusually cheap rental motorbike services, they usually do not guarantee good vehicles. The vehicles look new and in good quality with its new and clean appearance. However, normally, the machine inside is not a good one. It is a separate part of the frame of the motorbike. Therefore, it can cause some dangers during your trip. Moreover, you might also have to pay for the damages that it actually is not your fault.

How much Motorbike Rental In Hanoi?

The company will usually charge per 24 hours. When you rent for a day. the price you pay will vary depending on where you are, whether the bike is older or new, and an automatic or a manual one. In some places, you may have a discount for a weekly rental, most will for a monthly hire term.

If you intend to hire this motorbike for a long time (over a week), make sure you have a good deal with the company. (especially in peak seasons insist on a daily rate for how many days you hire).

Budget is about 120.000 to 200.000 VND per day or 800.000 to 1.200.000 VND for monthly rental. It depends on your motorbike preference.

Note that motorbikes rental prices in popular tourist destinations in Hanoi are higher compared to less touristy areas. If you plan to rent a scooter in Hanoi. I recommend getting a bigger Motorbikes than 50cc.

I recommend renting a scooter from a scooter rental that looks trustworthy. Renting a scooter from your hotel is a good option although it will cost you more. But as we’re talking about a few dollars difference, it is a less risky option than to rent from a business that looks suspicious.

    Hanoi Motorbike

    Which motorbikes to choose

If you wish, in Hanoi you can rent any bike. Starting from a simple scooter, to which you do not need the right, ending with a cool racing motorcycle or enduro. But, in truth, such specimens are rare here and it is difficult to get them, as a rule, tourists book them long before coming to rest. Therefore, the most popular here are ordinary scooters, which you will find everywhere. The entire range is not new, but in good condition. Vietnamese are trying to maintain the technical condition of their bikes at the proper level, so the risk that you stand somewhere on the track is not great.

The first thing to consider is your driving skill on a two-wheeled vehicle. If you ever sat behind the wheel of a motorbike, then you know that it is not as easy as it seems at first glance. Therefore, I advise beginners to pay attention to the scooter with an automatic transmission. They will be a little more expensive than the mechanics, but much easier to manage. As for those who have experience, then you yourself can decide which bike will be more comfortable for you, automatic or mechanic.

    Hiring motorbike

Also take into account the distance of the planned trips, your dimensions and individual preferences.

    Popular models of motorbikes

Yamaha Nouvo is a very popular model, both Hanoi and in all of Vietnam. Quite a roomy bike that will suit both men and women. Perfect for trips around the city and for short distances. In addition, this device is quite economical fuel consumption, which is good news. And due to its popularity, you can easily get any spare parts for it.
SYM Atilla – this model is suitable for the movement of the whole family. It can easily fit two adults and a child. And due to its power, it will be brisk to go even with a large load. But if you are planning a trip, I would not take this bike, because at the expense of small wheels, it is not well adapted to rough roads.

Honda Airblade is a very comfortable and reliable bike. An engine capacity of 125 cm3 allows you to travel long distances with the wind. The main advantage of this model is its handling. Suitable for those who already have experience driving two-wheeled vehicles.

SYM Shark is a large and powerful bike with an engine capacity of 125 cm3. Suitable for tall people, or to travel with the whole family. I can safely ride it two adults and two children. You can comfortably move around the city as well as over long distances.

Honda Wave – this model is suitable mainly for fragile girls or men of short stature. It has a small size and will accommodate no more than two people. The Semi-Automatic is convenient for getting around the city.

What Are Motorbike Rental Hanoi Requirements?

If you want to rent a Automatic Scooter in Hanoi, some rental companies ask for your passport while others don’t. We’ve noticed that shops located along the main touristy roads seem adamant about handing over your passport. It seems as though the smaller businesses on the less traveled side streets are more accepting to a passport photocopy or a cash deposit instead. To rent a Scooter in Hanoi, you need two things:

    Passport
    Cash

For motorbike rental, there are different procedures depending on the rental shop and the length of the rental. If you stay in a hotel and rent a motorbike from the hotel for a few days, the hotel will not require a deposit. If you rent directly from a rental shop, you need to give your passport to the owner until you return the motorbike or deposit an amount of money (from 2 million VND to 3 million VND). Leaving a passport with a shop while you travel the whole country is not ideal, so an alternative can be suggested. Often rental shops will accept a different form of valid identification or even a copy of the passport.

Or sometimes a rental company could ask for the hotel that you are staying in.

Regarding payments, you almost always pay in cash and upfront. Most motorcycle companies don’t ask to see proof of a driver’s license. You can drive away from their shop without toppling over or crashing into something or someone.

It is not difficult to rent a motorbike in Hanoi . There are several variants: Our shop on Google Map.

    small hotels and hotels.

    specialized points.

    other variants.

You can hardly walk around any (especially central) street without noticing a dozen rental places where you’ll be gladly helped to hire a scooter.

If you are staying at a small hotel you’ll probably be told about such nearest places at the reception. They even can bring you a bike or something to the hotel as hotel owners often have contracts with the owners of motor transport.

If they don’t provide such a service, it’s enough to walk along the second and the third lines of Hanoi.

One more method of hiring motor transport in Hanoi is getting in touch with the foreigners living there a long time and running some bike rental business. We’d advise you to turn to our good acquaintances – guys from the Moto Vietnam and they not only will help you to choose a good and suitable bike but will also give you some recommendations and several bike riding lessons.

Tips for backpacker when rent motorbike in Hanoi

Before and after the journey, you have to ensure that all parts of your motorbike are in normal operating conditions such as brakes, tires, chainsaws, lights, horns, turn signal and speedometer.

Remember to fill up the petrol for the motorbike. You don’t need to worry about the type of gasoline to use because the petrol station staff will automatically fill the suitable one for the motorbike.

Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, waterproof backpacks, coats, raincoats, locks, rubber bands, full battery, smartphone connect 3G, some motorbike repairing tools and most importantly is money.

    Obey the Vietnam traffic rules:
Wearing a helmet, driving on the right side and limited speed of 60 km/h
Do not cross the red traffic light, using horns anytime you need, drive with two hands,
Do not take photos when driving

Turn the lights on when getting inside tunnels.
Do not drink alcohol before and during the drive.

Be confident with traffic. Try to guess other’s turning direction by their body language.
Drive slowly in order to look out for animals, children, old people, alcoholics, drugs, off-size vehicles.
Keep a safe distance of big trucks when getting uphills or climbing mountain passes.

When police stop you, the easiest way to escape is “TIP” them 10 – 20 USD and then go.
Do not repair the bike without permission of a rental company. You need to contact them then be instructed.

Typical Cost of Motorbike Repairs Vietnam?

There’s no point denying the fact that your motorbike is going to break down. It’s inevitable. Here are some of the common breakdowns and how much you should expect to pay.
Here are the usual prices of the repairs, so you can notice when someone wants to rip you off:

Oil change with chain lubricating, tightening and brake adjusting – up to 120k
    Spark plug – 70k
Flat tire (inner tire) – 100k
Changing the inner and outer tire – 300k
    Battery – 250k – 350k
    Suspension – 300k
    Brake pads – 100k
    Exhaust – 250k
    Front light – 200k
    Backlight – 100k
    Chain – 150k
    Carburetor – 250k

Always ask for the price up front as a mechanic won’t be able to manipulate you on your ignorance. Once the price is set, Vietnamese respect it and they won’t change it. Just take a look at the prices above so you know what’s the usual price for the parts. With that knowledge, you’ll have a good starting point for bargaining.

    Motorbike Rental

    Safety Inspection and Checks

Before you set off, make sure you give a thorough check of the motorbike. The company will usually go over the bike and make a list of any dents, scratches and damage it might already have which you will be asked to witness.  Pay attention when this is done as the contracts you are about to sign says that you hired the bike in prime condition. If it comes back with any additional marks you will be charged for this and be careful some companies motorbike rental Hanoi make alot of extra income this way.

Here are things you should check for.

    1) Inspect the bike for existing damage and take photo’s on your phone

    2) Sit on the bike and bounce up and down – make sure the suspension is working

    3) See if the mirrors adjust and you can see behind you.  Thai drivers hardly ever use their mirrors – but you do!

    4) Ride the bike and check for size comfort (your knees should not be forced to stick out)

    5) Ride the bike and test the brakes (some bikes have rear and front, some combined – know what you have)

    6) Check the acceleration – sometimes you will need to get out of the way of some idiot quickly

    7) Opt for bikes with thicker tires – thin tires and gravel will be your No one reason for an accident

    8) Helmet – Get as good as you can and wear it.  Seriously wear it – I know some people don’t but think of your mother!

    MotorBike theft Hanoi

Bikes in Hanoi steal, but it happens quite rarely. Since almost all rental points are under lash from the local police, of course unofficially. Therefore, thieves try not to get involved in rented vehicles. But this does not mean that you can safely leave your motorbike on a deserted street with ignition keys in the lock and leave and your scooter will not be hijacked.

But in order to avoid theft of your bike, follow a number of rules:

To avoid unnecessary attention, you should not rent or buy a new motorbike. Choose a simpler model, take a closer look at what most drivers drive, so you will also avoid undue attention of the traffic police, which you will not be interested in.

Do not leave the bike for the night outside. Drive it into the courtyard of a house or hotel. Most often, such parking is guarded and closed at night. In hotels, if there is no parking, bikes are allowed to drive to the reception at night.
Pay attention to the parking near attractions and various shopping centers. Such parking can be both free and paid, but the amount there is purely symbolic from 10 to 15 thousand dong a day. But you will be completely sure that your bike is under reliable protection.
